Just when you thought we’d seen an end to the discussion of chromium-6 remediation, it has emerged once again at Joshua Basin Water District.
Reporter Mike Lipsitz explains…
In Joshua Tree Wednesday night, the governing board at the Joshua Basin Water District, in a unanimous vote, opted to fund the conclusion of a
chromium-6 remediation study. The question was whether to complete the study now that the state Water Resources Control Board has been forced to back away from more stringent restrictions on the carcinogen. For a number of reasons, including consideration of the already spent $250,000 in grant funds connected to the study and future value of study findings, the board voted to fund its conclusion with a five-year, no-interest loan.
