CHRISTMAS SAFETY TIPS FROM COUNTY FIRE

As residents try to make their homes look and feel festive this weekend, the San Bernardino County Fire Department offers the following safety tips:

Keep your live tree watered at all times and keep it away from heat sources. Inspect Christmas lights for exposed or frayed wires, loose connections, and broken sockets. Do not overload extension cords or outlets, and don’t run cords under rugs or furniture. Don’t burn tree branches, treated wood, or wrapping paper in your home fireplace. Make sure you have good ventilation when using artificial snow or any other aerosol product. Mistletoe berries, holly berries, and Jerusalem cherries can be poisonous; keep them away from children and pets.
