This week is National Child Passenger Safety Week, and the California Highway Patrol reminds motorists that children are required by law to ride in the back seat of a vehicle, in either a booster seat or car seat, until they are 8 years old, or are 4 feet, 9 inches tall. Buckling children in car seats, booster seats, and seat belts reduces the risk of serious and fatal injuries by as much as 71 percent. Parents are encouraged to call CHP Officer Joan Griffin at 760-366-3707 to make an appointment to ensure that their child’s car seat is installed and used correctly.
