Although residents are urged to stay home the next two holiday weekends, others will be traveling during Christmas and New Year’s holidays. This means the California Highway Patrol will be conducting a maximum enforcement period from 6 p.m. Thursday, December 24, through midnight Sunday, December 27, and again from 6 p.m. Thursday, December 31, through midnight, January 3. All available officers will be out on the roads for enhanced enforcement efforts focusing on impaired drivers, distracted drivers, and other infractions such as not wearing seatbelts. The CHP urges residents to buckle up, avoid distractions, keep to a safe and legal speed, and always designate a sober driver.
