This Saturday, May 28, the California Highway Patrol will conduct a sobriety checkpoint in the Morongo Valley. The checkpoint will be staffed by officers trained in the detection of alcohol and drug-impaired drivers. The officers will be equipped with hand held breath testing devices in order to detect blood-alcohol levels. As a reminder, the first offense for a DUI can cost up to $15,000 and those under 21 are subject to a one-year license suspension. All drivers will be checked and the objective is to enforce safe driving decisions.
