CHP SOBRIETY CHECKPOINT IN MORONGO BASIN SCREENS 450 VEHICLES, TWO ARRESTED FOR DUI

The California Highway Patrol arrested two impaired drivers at a sobriety checkpoint in the Morongo Basin Friday night. The checkpoint was part of the CHP Maximum Enforcement Period over the labor day weekend from 6:01 p.m. Friday (September 3) through 11:59 p.m. Monday (September 6). A total of 450 vehicles were screened Friday (September 3) from 7:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. Deputies arrested one driver for driving under the influence of drugs, locating a firearm stolen out of Las Vegas in the vehicle. Officers also arrested a second driver for driving under the influence of alcohol. The Maximum Enforcement Period concluded with six DUI arrests and over 70 citations during the Labor Day weekend.
