CHP Sets Up Checkpoint, Maximum Enforcement Period for the Holiday Weekend

The California Highway Patrol is ensuring that the High Desert’s roadways remain safe this holiday weekend by implementing a maximum enforcement period along with a D.U.I checkpoint.

The maximum enforcement period will begin today (September 2) at 6 p.m. and continue through Monday (September 5) night.

During this period, the CHP will be paying close attention to drivers who may be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. In addition to this enforcement period, the CHP will set up a D.U.I. and drivers license safety checkpoint tonight at an unannounced location in the Morongo Basin.

Both of these efforts are designed to ensure that motorists arrive safely at their destination this holiday weekend. The California Highway Patrol and Z107.7 urge all Morongo Basin residents to refrain from driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, make arrangements to have a designated driver, and remain vigilant on the roads. If you see or suspect an impaired driver, call 9-1-1 immediately.

Be prepared to provide the dispatcher a description of the vehicle, the license plate number, location, and direction of travel.

Your phone call may save someone’s life.
