Although the pandemic may keep many people close to home this weekend, others will be traveling during the Labor Day holiday. This means the California Highway Patrol will be conducting a maximum enforcement period from 6 p.m. Friday, September 4, through midnight Monday, September 7. All available officers will be out on the roads for enhanced enforcement efforts, focusing on impaired drivers, distracted drivers, and other infractions, such as not wearing seatbelts. The CHP urges residents to buckle up, avoid distractions, keep to a safe and legal speed, and always designate a sober driver.
