CHP ON MAXIMUM ENFORCEMENT OVER THE 4TH OF JULY HOLIDAY WEEKEND

A lot of people will be traveling during the Independence Day holiday, which means the California Highway Patrol will be conducting a maximum enforcement period from 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, through midnight Sunday, July 7. All available officers will be out on the roads for enhanced enforcement efforts, focusing on impaired drivers, distracted drivers, and other infractions, such as not wearing seatbelts. Last year, seven people were killed and 73 were injured in alcohol-related crashes statewide on Fourth of July. Every deadly crash involved a driver who had been drinking. The CHP urges residents to make the right and responsible decision before getting behind the wheel and always designate a sober driver.
