The local CHP is offering teen drivers a free “Start Smart” driving class. Reporter Taylor Thacker tells you how to sign up for a class this coming Wednesday…
Drivers between 16 and 19 years old are three times more likely to get into a fatal accident than those between 30 and 69. Teen drivers are found at fault in 66 percent of all fatal collisions that they are involved in. California has the second highest fatality rate involving drivers between the ages of 15 to 19. Don’t let your child become a part of one of these statistics. The California Highway Patrol is offering another FREE Start Smart class, being held at the Morongo Basin Area CHP office on July 24 at 6 p.m. This class is offered for newly licensed drivers, or soon-to-be drivers, and their parents. Start Smart addresses traffic safety issues, provides instruction on collision avoidance, driver responsibilities, and speaks directly to the teen drivers and their parents.
