The California Highway Patrol (CHP) will conduct a driving under the influence (DUI) and driver’s license safety checkpoint Friday (September 3) from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. somewhere within the unincorporated area of the Morongo Basin. The undisclosed checkpoint will target a road where there is a high frequency of impaired drivers. Traffic volume permitting, all vehicles will be checked for drivers who are under the influence of alcohol, drugs or driving unlicensed. The CHP is warning drivers that those found to be driving while under the influence or driving unlicensed face fines, possible jail time, and their vehicle being towed away.
