Monica Mahoney will guide students on a field class on a walk in the Lost Horse campground in Joshua Tree National Park, in which students will draw with charcoal and pencil. Students will explore the power of line quality, shading techniques, and using foreground, middle ground, and background shapes for creating strong, believable compositions. The class is designed for all skill levels. The skills learned in this class are complementary to an upcoming watercolor class in November. The charcoal and pencil class is $95 and will be held from 9 to 4, September 19. Register online at joshuatree.org.
