CHANGING OF THE GUARD AT THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OF THE HI-DESERT

At a luncheon for donors and supporters yesterday, the Boys’ and Girls’ Club of the Hi-Desert announced major leadership changes. Executive Director Kristine Perrance, who started with the club in 2011, announced she was retiring to pursue other passions and would leave the club leadership position at the end of May.

Perrance then introduced current Director of Operations Shawn Moon and said Moon would be taking on the executive director position. Moon was raised in Joshua Tree and graduated from Yucca Valley High School in 2007. He attended San Bernardino Valley College and La Sierra University, has an associate’s degree in sociology and is currently pursuing his bachelor’s degree. Moon previously worked at the Boys’ and Girls’ Club of the San Gorgonio Pass.

Teen Director Christy Coleman will move up to the operations duty. The Boys’ and Girls’ club was founded in 1982. The club has membership open to all youth age 5 to 18 in the Morongo Basin. Average attendance per day is over 110 children. The summer program sees over 125 kids daily.
