Twentynine Palms resident Donna Winters passed with peace and grace on May 8 with her family at her side. Donna Winters is survived by daughter Amanda and son-in-law Ed Will, of Barstow. Donna was born in Hawaii in 1958 and moved to Twentynine Palms at the age of 6 months where she remained for the rest of her life. She was a preschool teacher for more than 30 years. After a brief marriage, she threw her energies into raising her only child, Amanda. Donna loved her 3- to 5-year-old preschool charges and was an amazing teacher and mentor to these young people. She also taught Sunday School for many years at both the Joshua Tree and Twentynine Palms Methodist churches.
She will be always remembered as a loving mother whose greatest passion was helping others. A celebration of life service will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, May 26, at the Twentynine Palms United Methodist Church, 6250 Mesquite Springs Road. If you wish, donations may be made to the Palms-N-Paws Animal Shelter, 7086 Bullion Avenue in Twentynine Palms, or to the charity of your choice. She leaves us rich in memories of her kindness.
