Douglas William “Bill” Grimes Junior, a 34-year-resident of Yucca Valley, died September 15. He was 70 years old.
Bill Grimes is survived by his wife Kari Ann Grimes, his daughter Christine Williams and son William “Jesse Grimes,” both of Yucca Valley; sons Rick
Dapello, Ron Dapello, and Jeff Grimes; and daughters Tammy Reid, Lindsay Grimes, Melonee Mares, and Heather Watson; a sister Susan Grimes, 24 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Edna Grimes; a son Douglas “Dougie” Grimes III; daughter, Nichole Grimes; brothers Jeff and
Stephen Grimes; and sister, Cynthia Harker.
Bill Grimes lived in Yucca Valley from 1969 to 1974, and relocated here permanently in 1989.
Bill Grimes worked as a cowboy, trucker, and a salesman, and he was the owner of Grimes Electrostatic Painting until his retirement in 2001. He was
active in Rotary, Special Olympics, and was instrumental in the development of the Miracle League Sports Park in Yucca Valley. A celebration of life will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, September 29, at the Mojave Desert Land Trust in Joshua Tree. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Miracle League.
