Some Twentynine Palms residents were without power for over an hour Thursday night as crews worked to rescue a cat up a power pole. About 8 p.m., Southern California Edison crews were called to the Twentynine Palms cemetery because a cat was on top of a power pole. After trying unsuccessfully to get the cat down, the workers turned off the power to protect the kitty. The power outage affected the Twentynine Palms High School, Smith’s Ranch Drive-In, as well as hundreds of residents from Highway 62 to Indian Trail. After about an hour and a half, the cat ran down the pole, and SoCal Edison turned the power back on.
