Theatre 29 and Director Charles Harvey have announced the cast for the next production of Theatre 29’s 2013 season, the Broadway musical, “Ragtime.” “Ragtime” follows three families, circa 1906, who illustrate the diversity of America’s melting pot. Cast as the WASP family are Jennifer Paulk, Ben Bees, Graham Cooley, Amanda Mohn (making her stage debut), and Les Taylor. The African-American residents of Harlem are played by Horace Miller and Gloria Garner, and making his stage debut, Adrian Crowell. Representing the “teeming masses” of Eastern European immigrants hoping for their piece of the “American Dream” are Leonard Weber and Natalie Coughlin in her first leading role. Other actors include Herman Platzke, Kurt Schnauppner, Erin Keeran, Sadie Johannson, Aaron Fagan, and Alex Gomez. In the ensemble cast are Chanel Rodgers, Cyrus Short, Chalize Kuntz, Brynn McDonald, Katie VanSumeren, Julie Taylor, Gwyneth Arnold-Starr, Micheal Wanless, Cathy Inscore, Amanda Winters, Jasmine Shaffer, Tara Henkel, Nena Jimenez, Patrick Trizila, Cleve Spaight, Lovelle Montgomery, Mark Jefferson, Alex Alexander, Kendra Cruz and Ayodele Coker.
Tickets are $8 to $12 and can be purchased online at www.theatre29.org, or from the box office at 760-361-4151. “Ragtime” will run Friday and Saturday evenings at 7 p.m. May 3 through June 1, with Sunday matinees May 12 and 16 at 2:30 p.m. Theatre 29 is located at 73637 Sullivan Rd, just a quarter block west of Adobe Rd at Sullivan.
