Theatre 29’s next production, “Actress,” is another original play, the second of the 2012 season. Written by Josh Lazar of Twentynine Palms, “Actress” will be performed at Theatre 29 in Twentynine Palms for two weekends starting August 3. Lazar has assembled an experienced cast of actors from the Los Angeles area for his play. Mark Colbenson has spent 40 years acting and directing. Claire Burgi has been acting since she was 10 years old. Veronica Kelly has performed in more than 50 plays. Jennie Floyd has acted in films and TV, as well as on stage. And Anthony Specchio has extensive improvisational work. “Actress” takes place in Minnesota. Sparks fly when the prodigal daughter of a small-town judge returns home after 10 years away, to star in the same play her older sister starred in during high school. Old wounds resurface, rivalries ignite, and each character must come to terms with the truth. The Friday and Saturday evening performances of “Actress” are at 7 p.m. on August 3 and 4, and 10 and 11, and the two Sunday matinees on August 5 and 12 are at 2:30. Tickets are $8 to $12. Call 760-361-4151 for reservations.
