Traffic was stopped for about 30 minutes on the Morongo Grade Thursday afternoon when a car caught fire. The fire spread to vegetation alongside the road and burned about a 100 by 100 foot section. The car was traveling eastbound on Highway 62 near the top of the Morongo Grade when the engine compartment caught on fire about 1:45 p.m. The two occupants of the car were able to get out safely on their own. Both eastbound lanes were closed for about half an hour while firefighters put out the blaze.
