CANDIDATES FILE FOR TWENTYNINE PALMS

Reporter David Haldane says the deadline to file to run for an elected seat for Twentynine Palms City Council and the school board has also been extended until Wednesday…
If you suspect that your calling may be to serve on a school board or city council, you have a few more days to decide. The filing deadlines for both the Morongo Unified School District Board of Education and Twentynine Palms City Council have been extended by several days.
In the school board race, four candidates have so far filed to compete for three available seats in the November 8 election: incumbents Ron Palmer and Karalee Hargrove, as well as Denise Cohen, a retired librarian, and Maverick Von Haug.
In Twentynine Palms, meanwhile, three candidates have formally thrown their hats into the ring for two available seats: incumbent Joel Klink, Steven Bilderain and Jim Krushat. In addition, Ken King, current city planning commissioner, has pulled papers but not yet filed them.
Would-be candidates have until 5 p.m. on Wednesday to do so.
