CANDIDATE FILING OPENS THIS MONTH, LOCAL RACES GETTING STARTED

The opening date for candidates to file to run for office in California begins Monday, February 12. Congressman Paul Cook has told Z107.7 News that he intends to run for re-election to his seat in District 8. In addition, Republican Cook has at least two challengers: Democrats Rita Ramirez and Marge Doyle.

Third District County Supervisor James Ramos said he is considering running for California Assembly in District 40. Assemblyman Chad Mayes said he intends to run for re-election in District 42. Jim Schooler said he will run for election to the Yucca Valley Town Council, which has three seats up
for election this fall. The California primary election is June 5; early voting starts May 7. The deadline to register to vote is May 21.
