Last Friday was the deadline for candidates to file for the November 3rd Consolidated Election; however, that deadline must be extended when an incumbent does not file and that’s exactly the case for one local special district office. Assignment reporter, Mike Lipsitz, has details…
In Morongo Valley, long-time Community Services District board member Chuck Osborne is not seeking another term, so the deadline to file for that race has been extended until 5 p.m. this Wednesday, August 12. Incumbent Johnny Tolbert and Matthew Mark Campos have been certified in that race. If no additional candidates file by Wednesday, Tolbert and Campos will step into those seats. Any citizen-resident interested in joining this race may obtain and file the appropriate documents during regular business hours at the San Bernardino County Elections Office at 777 E. Rialto Avenue, in Bernardino. The other local race to watch is for two open seats on the Bighorn-Desert View Water Agency board of directors serving Landers and Flamingo Heights. Certified in that race are incumbents Michael McBride and Larry Coulombe, along with David Riley Ray who hopes to take one of their seats.
