CAMPFIRE COOKING WITH “DIRTY GOURMET” COOKBOOK AUTHORS

Food can taste better when you’re in the wilderness. Anything you make in a traditional oven or on the stovetop – bread, pie, stew, can be made in the wild in a Dutch oven. Learn practical tips and tricks from authors Emily Nielson and Aimee Trudeau to ensure that camp cooking is an enjoyable and memorable part of the overall outdoor experience. After dinner, professional photographer Scott Klinger will go through the basics of night photography. Klinger will explore operations and settings required to get the most out of your camera at night and in dim light. The class will cover popular types of night photography, including wide-field astrophotography, glowing tents, light painting, and more. Scott will support participants to get great shots of their campfire experience. Hike with Lew Kingman on Saturday and Sunday to encourage a good appetite. This program will be held at the reserved Lost Horse Campground in Joshua Tree National Park on Saturday, March 26, from 8:00 a.m. to midnight, and Sunday, March 27, from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The fee is $220 for JTNPA members and $230 for nonmembers.
