A Wildomar woman was arrested on Friday morning after she was seen carrying a machete while walking around Black Rock campground in Yucca Valley. Deputies were called to the campground just before 9 a.m. on Friday by a man who said he saw a woman, later identified as Sheri Payne, 43, walking into various campsites while carrying a two-foot long machete. The witness then saw Payne get into her gray car and leave the campground. A deputy stopped Payne at about 9:15 a.m. near the entrance to the campground and saw the machete between the passenger seat and the center console of her car. Sheri Payne was arrested for investigation of possession of a dirk or dagger, booked into the West Valley Detention Center, with her bail set at $25,000.
