As mentioned by Andrew Dieleman in his report on the Morongo Valley Community Services District meeting Tuesday, CalTrans made an unscheduled appearance at the board meeting to discuss design changes to the median on Highway 62. Managing editor Tami Roleff has more information about the work that will be done…
Last year, Caltrans added a low median on Highway 62 through the center of Morongo Valley to replace the delineators that had been in place for a couple years. In addition, it restriped the lanes and added a traffic signal at Bella Vista Drive. Now through the end of July, Caltrans will be making adjustments to the drainage culverts alongside the medians to allow for better drainage and cleaning. This work will require that one lane be closed in each direction Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Traffic conditions on the highway can be monitored through a Caltrans QuickMap app, available at http://quickmap.dot.ca.gov.
