Desert artists are invited to submit an original piece of art for the next Art in Public Places exhibition at the Twentynine Palms Visitor Center. The theme, “No Place Like Home” should focus on the Mojave Desert as home, from the era of Native Americans to early homesteaders to modern-day homesteaders to the military returning home from deployment. Artists can submit paintings, drawings, photography, mixed media, mosaics, ceramics, assemblage, sculpture or other 2D and 3D work. Artwork will be received at the visitor center Friday, Sept. 27, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The show will be on display from October 5, through January 3, 2020.

Artists unable to make this time can request an alternate delivery time by calling 760-358-6324 any weekday prior to Sept. 27.

All work must be ready to hang with professional wire or mount on a pedestal, must be offered for sale, and must be suitable for viewing by the general public. Outdoor art pieces will be displayed in the visitor center’s walled patio area.

An opening reception for artists and the public is planned for Saturday, Oct. 5, from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m., as part of Art Cruise 29! First Saturday, and will feature refreshments and music by Bill & Bob.
