The show theme, “Morongo’s Beauty,” celebrates springtime in the Morongo Basin, from the west end to the east end, including Joshua Tree National Park. The theme can be expressed in painting, photography, mixed media, or 3-dimensional work. All work should be ready to hang with professional wire or mount on a pedestal, must be offered for sale, and must be suitable for viewing by the general public.
Opening day for the show will be Saturday, April 3, with light hospitality between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Face masks and social distancing will be required, and entrance may be staggered to avoid overcrowding.
In addition to the exhibition, Art in Public Places will spotlight Mural #15 – Desert Wildflowers by artist Dan Kelly this spring. The nature mural features portraits of the Mojave Desert wildflowers and blooming flora set against a backdrop of the rocks in Joshua Tree National Park.
Art in Public Places exhibitions are presented quarterly by the Public Arts Advisory Committee (PAAC) of the City of Twentynine Palms.
