CALIFORNIA WILDFIRE CONDITIONS WORSEN, SOME TIPS FROM CALFIRE

A combination of high temperatures, increased power usage, and a statewide drought are adding to fire dangers in California. As conditions worsen, residents are urged to take precautions to prevent wildfires. Reporter Mike Lipsitz brings us CAL FIRE’s tips to do just that…

Dry conditions and higher temps create a situation where a fire could easily spark. CAL FIRE recommends the following:

  • Keep your vehicle properly maintained with nothing dragging on the road.
  • When towing, make sure trailer chains are properly secured.
  • Never drive on or pull over on dry grass, which can start a wildfire.
  • Get a campfire permit and check for local fire restrictions.
  • Keep grass, leaves, and other debris ten feet from your fire ring.
  • Completely extinguish a campfire before leaving.
