California State grant provides $645k for DUI law enforcement

A state financial grant will help county law enforcement better monitor and provide proactive treatment options for high-risk DUI offenders in our area.

California’s Office of Traffic Safety has provided $645,000 to the San Bernardino County Probation Department’s supervision program for people with multiple driving under the influence convictions and those considered to be at risk for re-offending. The funding will go toward additional proactive home contacts with those on probation, as well as additional treatment programs.

The probation grant will also pay for warrant operations targeting probation violations and DUI suspects who do not appear in court, alcohol testing, treatment compliance, DMV restrictions, and special weekend, evening and holiday operations to enforce terms of probation.

The grant program runs through September 2024.
