The Morongo Basin has a lot of military and military retirees who live here. However, a new study shows that California may not be the best place for military veterans to retire. Managing editor Tami Roleff tells us why…
A new study by Wallethub, a personal finance website, found that California ranks 21st in a survey of best places for military retirees to live. While it ranks third in having the most VA health facilities, it ranks at 48th for the number of military veterans per capita. California is last out of the 50 states and District of Columbia for affordable housing. It’s tied with Oregon, Hawaii, and the District of Columbia—for having the most number of homeless vets who live here. And it’s ranked at the bottom—49th —in the number of veteran-owned businesses. The best place for veterans to live according to Wallethub’s study? Virginia.
