CALFIRE TO HONOR YUCCA VALLEY FIREFIGHTER KILLED IN AN EXPLOSION 50 YEARS AGO

On February 20, 1970, firefighters responded to a reported liquid propane fire in the Town of Yucca Valley. Firefighter Paul Wearing sustained severe burn injuries during the fire and later died from his injuries. On Thursday, February 20, the Yucca Valley CAL FIRE station will host a commemoration ceremony in honor of Wearing. The event is from 10 to 2 at the fire station, 7105 Airway Drive. The commemoration ceremony will begin at 11 a.m.
