Cadiz, Inc., which grows lemons, grapes, and vegetable crops on 9,600 acres east of Twentynine Palms, will be adding a new product to its agricultural products: hemp. Cadiz announced earlier this month it was forming a joint venture with Glass House Farms to grow organic, sun-grown industrial hemp under the name of SoCal Hemp. The joint venture intends to bring to market hemp and hemp-derived products on a commercial scale. Cadiz plans to grow the hemp outdoors on 60 acres this year, expanding to 1,280 acres next year, and approximately 9,600 acres over the next three years.
