The California Fish and Game Commission will meet tomorrow (October 14) and discuss, among other items, the extension of protections to the Mohave desert tortoise and the Western Joshua tree. Reporter Heather Clisby has the details …
Tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m., the California Fish and Game Commission will host a webinar and teleconference addressing at least two items relative to the Morongo Basin.
Regarding the Mohave desert tortoise (also known as Agassiz’s desert tortoise), there is a request for a six-month extension to deliver the one-year status review report to change the tortoises’ status from “threatened” to “endangered.”
The commission will also consider adopting a 90-day extension of emergency regulations for a process to take Western Joshua trees (Yucca brevifolia) during the Clean Energy States Alliance (CESA) candidacy period. Additionally, they will discuss the number of trees folded into the process as well as applicable terms.
The meeting will be livestreamed for public viewing. To attend, see the link below.
