A car fire yesterday afternoon briefly closed the Yucca Grade for about 15 minutes. County Fire said the fire broke out in a vehicle going up the grade at about 4:30. The occupants, a man and wife and their child, unidentified, said the car they were in began to have mechanical difficulty and slowed down. When they pulled over to check it near the top of the grade, it burst into flames. The car was fully engulfed in flames when County Firefighters arrived, and for safety, they closed the grade until the fire was out, causing a back up for about a mile and a half. There were no injuries.
