BURGLAR DISCOVERED SLEEPING IN A YUCCA VALLEY HOME THANKSGIVING MORNING

Many of us take comfort in sleeping off a big turkey dinner on Thanksgiving Day; but there are circumstances when such a rest might not be recommended. Reporter Mike Lipsitz explains…
A Yucca Valley resident awoke to an unwelcome surprise on Thanksgiving. According to the Sheriff Department, a resident of the 58600 block of Barron Drive called the Sheriff Department just after 3 a.m. to report her home had been ransacked and a stranger was sleeping on her living room sofa. Deputies arrived to find 39-year-old Kimberly Johnson of Joshua Tree asleep on the couch. Several items belonging to the resident were found inside a pillowcase staged by the front door. Kimberly Johnson was arrested on suspicion of residential burglary and possession of methamphetamine. Johnson spent the rest of her Thanksgiving in Morongo Basin Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail; she is presently residing at West Valley Detention Center.
