BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT SEEKS PUBLIC INPUT ON MANAGING THE ONLY FREE-FLOWING RIVER IN THE MOJAVE

At 185 miles long, give or take, the Amargosa River is the only free-flowing river in the Mojave Desert and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is seeking public input on how best to manage it. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Barstow Field Office is opening the public scoping period for the development of the Amargosa Wild and Scenic River Comprehensive River Management Plan. Members of the public are invited to attend a virtual presentation on May 12, 2021 at 4 p.m. via Zoom to provide scoping comments during the 30-day period which will close on June 1, 2021. 

Substantive written comments may be mailed to Chris Otahal, Barstow Field Office Wildlife Biologist at 2601 Barstow Road, Barstow, CA 92311 or provided via e-mail at: [email protected] by June 1, 2021. Due to COVID-19 concerns, an informal web-based presentation will replace an in-person meeting and take place via Zoom at 4 p.m. on May 12, 2021 at:
