BROWN BAG LECTURE IN YUCCA VALLEY THURSDAY

The baskets of the Cahuilla and Serrano Indians is the subject of this month’s Brown Bag Lecture at the Hi-Desert Nature Museum this Thursday. Reporter Eric Knabe has more on how you can spend your lunch hour…

Native Americans have lived in this region for thousands of years prior to the arrival of Europeans. Baskets are perhaps one of the oldest artifacts used continually throughout much of prehistory and that continue to be made today. Join archaeologist Daniel McCarthy this Thursday as you discover more about the past. An overview will be presented about the materials use to make baskets, their age and uses. Bring your friends, or just bring yourself to Thursday’s monthly brown bag lecture. The lecture starts at noon. Admission is $5 or free for museum members/sponsors.
