Theatre 29’s, “Urinetown the Musical” opened last Friday night to an enthusiastic crowd of theater-goers. A local charity benefited from the opening night event. Here’s reporter Rebecca Havely with more details…
Reach Out Morongo Basin hosted last Friday night’s Theatre 29 gala opening of the comedy, “Urinetown the Musical.” Reach Out Executive Director Robin Schlosser says they raised almost $1,100. for their programs for local seniors and the disabled. Theater-goers enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and desserts made from the Reach Out staff volunteers. Silent auction donations of photography and art were made by local artists, Zander Hardin and the estate of Jacquelyn Angove. Local businesses also donated: ArtFx and Furnishings, Stampin’ Up and The Copper Mountain Foundation the auction raised $165. The audience enjoyed themselves immensely getting all the witty jokes the dark comedy has to offer and showed it with their uproarious laughter and applause. The production is directed by Desert Theatre League award winner Gary Daigneault. It continues its run through March 28 with three shows this weekend—Friday and Saturday night at 7 p.m. and a Sunday matinee March 8 with a 2:30 p.m. curtain.
