BREAKFAST TOMORROW TO HELP SEND LANDERS ELEMENTARY KIDS TO SCIENCE CAMP

Spring Science Camp has become somewhat of a rite of passage for area sixth graders, but only if their class can collectively raise the funds needed to go. Reporter Mike Lipsitz has more on their efforts …
For many Morongo Basin sixth grade students, the week away at Science Camp in April or May is their first time away from family for any length of time. Camp offers structured educational programs, but in an environment far from the regular classroom. Students explore, discover, and create bonds that last a lifetime.
Sixth graders from Landers Elementary School are in the final stretch toward raising the more than $10,000 needed for their trip. They hope that a Pancake Breakfast at Landers’ Moose Lodge this Saturday will put them over the top. The $5 breakfast, which includes pancakes with sausage, juice and coffee, will be served from 8 to 10 a.m.  The Moose Lodge is on Reche Road just east of Landers Post Office. Get your tickets from any Landers Elementary sixth grade student, from the front desk at the school, or at the door on Saturday. What could be more satisfying that feeding a young person’s appetite for learning?
