BOY DIES FOLLOWING OHV CRASH SATURDAY IN LANDERS

A 10-year-old boy from Anaheim was killed Saturday in a crash between an off-highway vehicle and a car in Landers. According to the California Highway Patrol, Sheri Ann King, 45, of Landers, was driving a 2016 Ford Fusion northbound on Shawnee Trail about 7:10 p.m. As she approached the intersection with University Boulevard, a 16-year-old from Hacienda Heights, who was driving a 2013 Wildcat side-by-side off-highway vehicle, failed to yield to cross traffic and collided with the passenger side of the Ford. The 10-year-old passenger of the OHV, identified by family friends as Nathan, was flown by Mercy Air to Loma Linda Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries. King was also injured in the crash; she was taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center. Drugs or alcohol are not believed to be a factor in the crash.
