This weekend, BoxoPROJECTS will host a virtual open house event with international artist Vesna Pavlović about her research residency focusing on the Morongo Basin. Reporter Heather Clisby has details…
Working from her Nashville studio, artist Vesna Pavlović is spending this month conducting archival research that digs in to our Morongo Basin heritage and the homesteading activities of the early 20th century. And BoxoPROJECTS in Joshua Tree is hosting a virtual open house where residents can learn more about Pavlović and her project.
Vesna Pavlović’s work delves into our relationships between memory, culture and the photographic image. She aims to explore the challenges of a rugged landscape and how it affects housing politics. Her research includes the collection of oral histories and radio archives of the era.
Come March, Pavlović will present her research findings at a Community Slide Show event with an invitation for residents to share their own relevant photographic slides.
Karley Sullivan will host a conversation with Pavlović on Saturday, December 19 at 2 pm. To attend, go to the Zoom link below.
