BoxoProjects, a multi-program arts initiative based in Joshua Tree, presents a virtual artist talk called Terra Incognita on Sunday, October 17. Hilary Sloane joins us with those details…
Terra Incognita is a performative sculpture project created by artist Georgia D. McGovern and designer Sebastijan Jemec. It is a series of tents that are each temporarily placed in a unique wilderness or urban location, immersing the user in the environmental specificity of that particular site. Each iteration highlights the micro in the macro and explores concepts of shelter and rewilding. The project is experiential in that when the user activates the art piece, they become a performer, and their experience within nature, using the tent’s framework, becomes the art itself.
The virtual event will be a conversation with artist Em Joseph on Sunday, October 17, at 2:00 p.m. on Zoom.
