And yet another art exhibition reception tomorrow. Managing editor Tami Roleff says a BoxoHouse reception will be at the Art Queen Annex…
BoxoHouse’s newest exhibition, “Active Resistance,” featuring art by China Adams and John Luckett, is a commemoration of the 1969 Stonewall Riots, that started the Gay Rights movement. Adams has two works on display; “White Flags,” which is made of junk mail and other detritus of everyday life that allows us to project our self-determined identities on them. “Winter Garbage Chunks” are pale boulders on the gallery floor that represent the rising waters around us. Luckett’s exhibit, “Drag Queens” portrays everyday men enjoying everyday life. An opening reception will be held Saturday, June 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Art Queen Annex Gallery, downtown Joshua Tree. The exhibit runs through July 4.
