“Layering Reality,” the new contemporary art exhibition at BoxoPROJECTS in Joshua Tree, features the creative efforts of local artists Blake Baxter
and David Mackenzie.
Baxter is known for his monochromatic paintings that also utilize sand, cement, coal and earth, finished with acrylic washes. Mackenzie experiments with paint formulas, layering and incorporation of other items, such as cord, into his paintings. Both artists are Los Angeles natives and former members of Waterfront Artists Coalition in New York.
The exhibition kicks off with a reception on Sunday, September 30, 2-5 p.m. The show will run every weekend until October 21, from noon to 6 p.m. and by appointment. BoxoPROJECTS is located at 62732 Sullivan Road in Joshua Tree.
