BoxoProjects, a multi-program arts initiative based in Joshua Tree, is hosting a virtual open house on Saturday for their artist-in-residence, Jenny Perlin, who has been studying sunspots. Reporter Heather Clisby has details…
During her residency with Joshua Tree-based initiative, BoxoProjects, filmmaker and artist, Jenny Perlin, found inspiration in our nearest star. During a virtual open house this Saturday, Perlin will discuss how she has been studying sunspots and solar flares as part of her landscape-focused approach.
Sky’s The Limit Observatory, based in Twentynine Palms, has been assisting Perlin as she created drawings and an animated film about sunspots. Her short film features photos of solar projections, drawings of desert fauna, and an explanation of the sunspot rivalry between 17th century astronomers, Christoph Scheiner and Galileo Galilei. For more info about the artist, visit jennyperlinstudio.com.
The event will take place on Saturday, January 30, at 2 pm on Zoom.
