BOXOHOUSE CHOREOGRAPHER TEA SUNDAY IN JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK

An artist-in-residence at BoxoHouse in Joshua Tree has developed a new art project that focuses on the migratory histories of peoples in the southwest deserts. Managing editor Tami Roleff has more information about the “Materiality of Exile” project by Ana Sanchez-Colberg…

Ana Sanchez-Colberg’s new work, “Materiality of Exile” focuses on the Latinx community who migrate from inhospitable conditions to more hospitable ones. Her performance develops the idea of “crossings” in three inter-related strands: a live-dance event, an outdoor installation, and an indoor video installation. In addition, 11 female artists will be a part of the project, and will post their responses on a blog. Sanchez-Colberg will be at an artist’s tea at Cap Rock in Joshua Tree National Park 9 a.m. Sunday. And then performances will be held at the Palm Springs Art Museum, at BoxoHouse, and Ruben’s Ranch in Coachella.  https://materialityofexile.blogspot.com/.
