BoxoHouse will host an artist’s open house this Sunday. Reporter Mike Lipsitz tells us more about the artist and the art…
Works in progress of BoxoHouse artist-in-residence China Adams are the focus of an open house this Sunday, June 19th from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Joshua Tree. Adams’ current series of pen and paper drawings reveal fluid and organic shapes which sharply contrast other recent work. Both series, however, reflect a meditative quality both in form and in process. Building on the artist’s concerns about consumerism and object making, the work makes maximal usage of minimal material. A California native, China Adams work has been exhibited around the world. An instructor at the USC Roski school, Adams’ emphasis is on the Fundamentals of Design. To get to BoxoHouse take White Feather Road past the medical center then right on Sullivan.
