Shawn Skabelund, an installation artist whose current work, “Tree of Pain: A Shoot from the Parched Earth” is on display at BoxoHouse in Joshua Tree, will host an artist’s tea in Joshua Tree National Park Sunday morning. Bring your favorite mug to Cap Rock at 9 a.m. and talk with Skabelund about his art. Then later that afternoon, Skabelund will hold another open house at BoxoHouse, from 3 to 5 p.m. Using found materials as well as borrowed elements, his “Tree of Pain” work fills the space with sense of decay and detritus, and the silent witness born of nature. The exhibit will be on display through March 31. BoxoHouse is located at 62732 Sullivan Road in Joshua Tree.
