BOTH YUCCA VALLEY AND TWENTYNINE PALMS GIRLS’ BASKETBALL END THEIR CIF PLAYOFF RUN

Both the Yucca Valley and Twentynine Palms High School girls’ basketball seasons came to an end last night. The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojans lost 66-28 to the CIF Division 3AA top-ranked Glendora Tartans in Glendora. Coach Jess Geeson said junior Savannah Beasley scored eight points while junior Zena Yakimow added six points to lead the Trojans. Juniors Hannah Hovious, Kiley Pitts and Kloee Scaccionoce each chipped in four points for the Yucca Valley girls who struggled to find any kind of rhythm from the opening tip. The Yucca Valley girls finished the season with a 19-8 overall record and a top 8 finish in the 3AA division.

The Twentynine Palms High School Lady Wildcats basketball team fell just short in a nail-biter quarterfinals matchup against Rosary Academy last night in Fullerton. Principal Justin Monical said junior Destiny Dedmon hit a 3-point, half-court shot just as the time expired, to send the game to overtime. In OT, the Lady Wildcats scored the go-ahead basket with 5 seconds left to play. Rosary hit the winning shot as the buzzer went off. The Wildcats just missed a chance at a second straight CIF semifinals appearance, falling 76-75 to number 1 ranked Rosary.
