There are two viable candidates running for the short-term seat on the Morongo Unified School District board of trustees created by the untimely death of Ron Palmer. Kerri Condley and Donna Munoz both filed for the seat; then, because of personal challenges and other obligations, both announced–at separate times–they were not going to accept the seat. They then both later changed their minds and said they would accept the seat. The confusion was caused when Munoz announced she would not accept the seat because of a conflict with her work on the Measure “O” committee and an illness in the family. Then Condley sent an e-mail to the School District announcing she would not accept the seat because of an illness in her family. School District Superintendent Tom Baumgarten contacted Munoz and asked if she was able to fulfill the duties if elected because he did want the District to have to appoint for the seat. Subsequently Condley reconsidered and determined she would indeed be able to fulfill the obligations to the district if elected. The Bottom line, on Friday, October 26, both Munoz and Condley told Z107.7 News that they are both running to win, and if they win they will accept the seat.
